     There is a really big drought in Texas right now. A drought is where you don't get water for a long time and your lake levels go down. Another thing a drought does is makes it really really hot. A drought also kills all of our plants because it is really hot and we have no water.  The drought also kills our animals because of our plants dying.
     The fires started yesterday when there were really high winds and people were barbecuing outside.  The fires are happening around Austin like Smithwick and Spicewood.  People are having to evacuate their houses because of the fires.  The fire is not under control yet. A lot of fires have closed down roads.
     The drought has been going on for 10 months. The drought here is exceptional and is the worst. Here it is 20 inches below the normal level of water.  They say it will stop in October.

     A way the drought effects us is we can't grow a garden, which sucks. Also we can't water our grass or trees as much as we normally do.  We also don't have as much water in other places.  Not our lake because it is dammed in.  The fires are also effecting us because roads are closed.  We also don't get any rain.
