The reason we have Thanksgiving as a holiday is because of a girl called Sarah Joseph Hale. She sent letters to Abraham Lincoln to make Thanksgiving a holiday. Lincoln agreed to make Thanksgiving a holiday.
How they celebrated Thanksgiving is by having a shooting contest. The winner would get the animal they killed. The targets were wild turkey and chickens.
How Thanksgiving started was when Americans went to discover new land. The pilgrims and the Americans fought over the land. Then they made peace and had a feast to celebrate the peace.
