My nephew has just left the house to go to war. I sent him a letter a few hours ago, I miss him so. My husband, Michael, is still working at the forge. Just before Walter left Michael gave him a sword to use. I am worried that he might get hurt or worse, but I admire his courage. He will free the slaves even if he has to die for it. I pray to god every few hours that he is okay and still alive. If he were to die I don't know what we'd do. I hope they have good healthcare in the union army.
