Gabe: Blog of the Day

Thanksgiving was a thing that you could celebrate and it was not a holiday.  But because of one woman, Sarah Hale, it became a holiday. She was writing letters with her pen and she wrote to four presidents and they all said no. But she got more people to write and she made Lincoln make Thanksgiving a holiday.
The soldiers tried to celebrate it but they did not have the money.  They never got to celebrate together.  But little groups tried to celebrate it.  Some of them did, but not many.
Most of the people at home in the North celebrated.  The people in the South did not.  The North celebrated with a really big feast.  But they cooked over a fire.
