Day three of the trip and most of the kids woke up ready to hit the beach! So after another quick hotel breakfast Daddio took some of the kids out for an early morning swim.
This is when they actually saw the first jellyfish of our trip. We saw several more washed up on the beach later in the day and there was a "blue flag warning" on the beach for "venomous sea creatures" but we never did spot any in the water.
After giving the teenagers some extra sleep in time we all headed to the pool for a while. It was so nice to see Connor this happy that we are considering moving to the beach.
Then back down to the beach- we did a lot of back and forth between the pool area and the beach during our stay but it was so easy to do- definitely one of the highlights of the South Padre La Quinta.
After some swimming we gathered the kids and gave them this Instant Challenge:
Here they are lining up for the challenge and digging away.
And here Daddio is measuring the holes.
Kalli was the big winner with the deepest hole, and that was even after she had to start her hole over in the middle of the challenge due to a buried fishing net. Way to go Kalli! And an honorable mention for Max who dug the entire five minutes and was so proud of himself.
Then it was time for a lunch break poolside, some more chess and a long game of War.
And back to the beach again! Here's the proof that I was actually on this trip too.
Something odd happened to Mason's hair on this vacation- he liked it so much that he asked me to take this picture so that he can recreate the look later. I think I will be buying lots of gel.
We had one last beach challenge for the kids in the afternoon. This one was really fun because there were teams and the grown ups got to play too.
Here are some shots of them attempting to strand us on our desert islands.
The girls won by stranding me first in the middle of a moat. Good work!
Later that night, Daddio took the older kids out to the pool for the last swim while the younger ones relaxed with some popcorn and I got to work packing up. It was a great last day at the beach and NO ONE wanted to think about heading home yet.
