Next Tuesday is officially the first day of NaNoWriMo 2011. NaNoWriMo is the National Novel Writing Month challenge that happens every November. Each participant is challenged to set a word count goal and write a complete novel during the month. For adults the goal is 50,000 words- for kids that participate in the Young Writers Program the goals can be individually set. Our kids did this last year, loved it and made a great book out of their combined novels- so we are doing it again this year. The kids all spent the month of October filling out the really great (free!) writer's workbooks on the YWP website to get their novel ideas down on paper. A week from today they will all start writing. They have increased their word count goals from last year and I will report each week with Wordcount Wednesday on how they're doing. Good luck kids! (And Daddio too who is working to get 50,000 words in his second novel done as his personal
NaNoWriMo challenge in November.)
