Thanatos Greek God Of Death
Thanatos is the Greek god of death. He is overshadowed by Hades being a minor god. Thanatos appears in quite a few myths. In the most famous myth a woman tells Thanaos to take her to the under world in place of her husband. Thanatos doesn't really care who goes to the underworld as long as he drags someone there. Hercules the son of Zeus stopped Thanatos by tackling him. In another myth a Greek King tricked Thanatos into letting him live. The king later was dragged down to the underworld like everyone else. Hades also gave the king a specific punishment of having to push a rock up hill eternally. It just proves you can't beat death. Thanatos doesn't always look like the picture above. Over centuries the face of death changes entirely. The Greek version of death has flesh while the one above is skeletal. Thanatos, the Grim Reaper, and Death the horseman of the apocalypse are all the same type of thing. They are all a representation of death and as such their forms are meant to strike fear into our hearts. Thanatos was and is famous for being a physical representation of death.
