Mason: Civil War Letter

Dear Friend,
  I have just heard that you were recruited for the Union Army and I am wondering if you are ok?  I feel sad that you have joined the Union Army.  I wish that you would have joined the Confederates so that we wouldn't have to fight.  Just because we are friends does not mean I will go easy on you.  But when the war is over, can we still be friends?
