A microwave  uses microwaves. The microwaves hit a metal disc which send all the microwaves all around the microwave. The microwaves make the water molecules in the food vibrate which turns in to heat going through the food. A magnetron, which is a special electron tube, makes the microwaves.   It takes 650 watts to 1200 watts to heat your food correctly. Then you have a perfect meal.
