The microwave is actually short for microwave oven. It was invented in the 1940s by Percy LeBaron Spencer. A microwave has a frequency range of 1,000 MHz (Megahertz) to 300,000 MHz. It corresponds to a wavelength from 300mn (12 inches) to 1mn (o.o4 inches). It travels in strait lines. It basically makes a TON of radio waves that go into this little box in the microwave, that makes a ton of heat. Some people say that putting very healthy food in a microwave can make the food like fast food and not be healthy anymore.
