Daddio: Checking In From the Homefront

I left the hospital at about 2:00 pm today and got home at about 3:30.  Connor was fine when I left, mostly sleeping a bunch because they have him on a bunch of pain medicines, but because they don't know what the nature of the infection is, they don't really have much to tell us yet.  We should know more in a few days when they get the tissue cultures back.

I'm home for the night and going back to relieve Jen for the day shift tomorrow.  The kids here are in good spirits, a bit euphoric from not having to do school, but surprisingly well-behaved and not wild-- which is a welcome relief for me when I got home exhausted.

Their Nana treated them like kings and queens today, taking them to Walmart for a few fun games and activities, and then to Chili's for lunch.  They were all stuffed full by the time I got home, so for dinner they just ate some leftover Chili's and some pizza that was left over from the night before.  After Jack went to bed, we all settled into the living room and had a Buffy the Vampire Slayer marathon.  All the seasons of Buffy and Angel are on Netflix's Instant Watch, so we've been working our way through the Buffy for the last few weeks.  We're currently halfway through Season Two- and tonight Max, Ava, Mason, Gabe, Kiki and Marney watched a couple episodes, then we put Max to bed and enjoyed chips and dip while we watched a third episode.  They all had a great time, but they're all exhausted from the excitement that's been going on.

Everyone's thinking of you, Connor, and can't wait for you to come home.  They all miss you like crazy and even have a present that they're sending with me to the hospital tomorrow.

More updates are forthcoming as we learn more.

The kids are really missing you Connor. We talk about you all the time and wonder what you are doing. We love you.
