Yesterday afternoon we tried to make good use of our time being stuck inside with germs and spent it playing some new family games together. We enjoy playing games at our house, but it is always hard to find ones that everyone can play (well, Max and Jack are still at the bystander stage) so we often try out new ones. Yeterday we got these two:
We played Pictureka first in teams of four. It is a pretty fast paced game where you look for certain items in the picture card board. The first to earn six cards wins- that was Kiki and I this time. Wow- she was so excited! Here are a few shots of the game play. Yes, Kyle probably should have been wearing a face mask.
Blokus was played twice- Daddio and Gabe tried it out first with us watching to see how it works. It is very simple, you are just placing your colored tiles in a certain way until you can't play anymore. The one with the fewest tiles left at the end wins. There is strategy involved, but the puzzle type- you need a good eye again so see where the various pieces can fit for future moves, like checkers. Then we played with four teams- me, Marney, Connor & Mason, Avery & Gabe. Everyone enjoyed it and did great without help- especially Marney who was all on her own but seemed to understand it right away. I did win, but I think this is the type of game I won't win often!
Fun was had by all for several vomit-free hours and it was a nice afternoon. We will play these often!
