2009 Roadtrip: Update #5.5

It's been a long stretch in Louisiana, so what better way to pass the time than... to scratch off lottery tickets! And do we have incredible luck, or what, because Santa left some scratch offs in the kid's stockings! Here's a sample of an unscratched ticket:

Everyone got into the act, except for Connor who didn't want to stop playing Nintendo DS to try to win some money (he regretted it when I scratched his ticket and he won a buck):

HEY! Marney had a $10 winner! (The snowflake means you win double the prize listed.) Chicken dinner for everyone!

And wouldn't you know, just as we got done with the lottery tickets- but that's the bridge up ahead that goes into Mississippi.

It's official! We're finally out of Louisiana! Phew. And no one got attacked by Cajuns. We got lucky. Too lucky.

And immediately after entering Mississippi, we found this broken down truck with a bunch of stuff in back.

We pulled over and let the guy use our cell phone to call for a tow, but then in return for giving him a jump start off of our van, he gave us a couple of the chairs from the back of his truck.

No, just kidding. We just kept driving.

Alabama is only about a half an hour away. Another update then!
