Mommio: World Geography Cooking- Guatemala

This week we used our Eat Your Way Around The World cookbook to create a dinner from Guatemala.
We had lots of fun making it and trying something new.  It turns out that the kids really didn't like any of it (except for the plain white rice I made to go along with the meal), but the adults LOVED it!  Here's what we had:
Gabe and I made this chicken together and the entire house smelled so good all afternoon.  The mix of the pineapples, cinnamon and cloves was amazing.  Here he is putting together the ingredients.
Here's what it looked like before cooking-
After thirty minutes in the oven we added the tomatoes-
And here's how it looked (too bad you can't smell it) when it was all done cooking.  It doesn't look that great but it was delicious and the chicken was so moist and full of all the flavors-
We also had a special soup to go with our meal.  This is the soup that Avery, Marney and Kiki made for us:
Here they are making the soup- lots of cutting involved-
Here's what it looks like all done and ready to serve with some yogurt on top.  I was a little hesitant on this one, but it was really great.  Marney loved it too!
Here's what I made for desert-
After baking the bananas we ate them over vanilla ice cream.  Yummy!
