Mommio: Instant Challenge- Car Seat Bridge

The drive to the Mayborn Museum in Waco this week was a pretty long one (about 2 1/2 hours) so I decided to come up with a fun Instant Challenge to try out in the car. We gave one challenge and set of supplies to each row of seats, so the "teams" were Avery/Lily, Connor/Marney/Kennedy, and Gabe/Mason/Elder.  Here's the challenge:
Avery and Lily were the first to complete the challenge.  They used the method of patiently cutting the mailing label into tiny little strips so that the could tape each card together.
The other two teams were quite frustrated with this challenge and after some time, and several specific hints from the adults, they figured out how to cut the cards and link them together to form a bridge.
Avery and Lily were the only two to figure out the Bonus Challenge this time.  Several of the kids in the car came up with card bracelets (simply cut a hole in the center of the card and slip it over your wrist).
But the two girls were able to figure out how to cut the card to create a necklace.  Here's how-
1. Fold the card in half lengthwise.
2. Cut the card in this pattern.
3. Carefully open the card back up and flatten.
4. Cut along the middle of the card, don't cut through the outside strip on either end of the card.
5. Carefully open up the the cuts and stretch apart to form a necklace.
You can also use this same method with paper and surprise people with your ability to walk through a piece of paper. Overall this challenge went well and was a great way to kill some time in the car. I'll definitely need to create a few of these for our long drive to Death Valley this January!  And thinking of that...these would be great for camping trip activities too.
