Last weekend we cleaned out our garden, it was a mess! We also added our compost to the soil, spread some bone meal (natural fertilizer) and tilled it all. Saturday we finished tilling it and dug out all the new rows. The kids really did a nice job on this- they knew what to do without any direction at all. It was nice to see that they have learned so much about gardening over the last two years. They all worked hard, but Avery gets the award for being the hardest worker of the day and sticking it out to the end.
Today we started to plant the garden.
Here is the plan for our fall garden, we'll post more about it as it starts to grow.
We are also excited that we will be members of a CSA with Cypress Valley Farms this year that will deliver baskets of fresh fruits, veggies and eggs to Joan's Academy each Monday where the older four will be taking classes. We are all looking forward to lots of fresh food!
