Daddio: Building a Dam at McKinney Falls.

We went camping at McKinney Falls State Park this weekend for Gabe's birthday.  We did a TON of stuff, and I trust that the kids will post up about every little detail of what we did.  But I thought I'd post up about how Gabe and Ava and I built a dam in one of the currents at the top of the upper portion of McKinney Falls.

Before you email us and talk about what a wonderful idea this was, we should let you know that we saw that someone else had already built a dam in the current out of rocks, so we decided to destroy that stupid dam and build our own about ten feet farther downstream.  Here we are at the top of the falls building the dam:
First we picked our spot and started stacking the really heavy, bigger rocks in the middle of the fast moving trench of water:
Gabe helped us out by sitting in the trench and slowing down the flow of water.  This made it easier to place all the rocks in the perfect spot:
And after about 15 minutes (and several rocks that flew down the falls)-- VOILA!  We built our own mini-falls at the top of Upper McKinney Falls!  We christened it, Upper Upper McKinney Falls:
