Connor: Doom Chapter 10

I went to an extraordinary feast at Hades' castle, if that can be seen as the proper term.  There sat the populars all at the side farthest from Hades.  Hades has told me that he dislikes their bragging of great victories, because those victories ended in their deaths thus taking away from their victories.  He even went far enough to say that Orpheus was the worst for bragging about how he escaped Hades with his wife.  Of course all us non-legends know that these are nothing but lies.  Hades seems to like making warriors into legends although he rarely does.  Zeus forbade his assistance to any warrior without Ares' consent.  One day while I was out on my watch duty with Cerberus, the three headed pushover as I have come to call him, Ares arrived at the front gate.  Imagine how impressed I was to see the god of war.  He said "I wish to enter.  Please tell Hades that I wish to see him about some Hector guy.  If you bring him quickly I will pay you one drachma."  Hearing an offer like this from the god of war himself was great and depressing.  It was great because I was getting a tip, yet it was depressing because he came to talk to Hades about the man I had slain.  Ares looked at me and said before I departed to retrieve the master and said "Have I seen you before?  You look familiar.  Are you Ajax?"  I said, with a hint of hatred in my voice, "I am not Ajax!  I am Achilles the man who slew Hector.  I was told that I was your favorite and yet you confuse me with Ajax.  I feel ashamed to say that I obeyed you.  Get thee gone and I will tell my master what you want.  Away with thee!"  Ares looking angry said "You worthless mortal.  You do not command me.  You commanded your army.  You were my favorite until you attempted to make me leave.  You do not deserve my respect.  I demand to see Hades NOW!"  I said simply "Try to I dare you.  Oh wait you forgot that gods may not enter without Hades command.  Now who has the power?    I will talk to my master although you may not come.  Go away.  If you make another step toward this door Cerberus, who just so happens to be a perfect gaurd dog will attack you.  One more thing you were supposed to leave any weapons of power or weapons outside in the waiting room.  Another reason I banish you at the moment."  Ares left in a heap of smoke and non-repeatable swears.  Just when I least expected it Hades appeared next  to me.  He said "Good job Achilles.  Although you do know he wanted to talk about you right why else would he give you drachmas?  Oh well when Zeus and the other gods die you may become a hero of legend although it will take much longer now for you to be reborn.  I understand that you were upset, but next time please keep a cool head."  With that Hades went back to his throne room.  I had doomed myself.

Connor: Doom Chapter 9: Hades' Grudge

Some of the gods came to speak to Hades again.  This time Persephone gave me orders not to allow a god or goddess other than herself and Hades into the underworld.  The gods who stopped by to day were annoying.  Zeus, god of the sky, and Poseidon, the relentless and careless god of the seas, had come to see Hades.  I was ticked off at their presence,  this being because they were the ones who brought about my death.  Zeus gave me a look that said "I am superior to you in every way."  Zeus only pretends to like mortals, I could tell from the frown on his face as he passed by.  The titan that created us exiled and fed eternally to vultures as we are cursed by his brother's girlfriend opening the jar.  Poseidon told me of your travels and how much he hates you.  By insulting you and me Poseidon also insulted the rest of the Greek army.  Perseus, a new guard despite being here before the war, was upset to see Zeus, his godly father, here in the realm.  We tried to hold the gods back, but Zeus flew above us and Poseidon evaporated.  The next thing I knew Hades came towards me and said "Nice try, but nothing will keep Zeus out.  As for Poseidon, He can be stopped by a cauldron over a flame and a simple spell."  with that Hades handed me a scroll with a spell called "Liquidus Reformus." This was sure to turn Poseidon back into water until he vowed to leave and never return.  I dread the coming of the next god to discuss important matters with the master.  My friend you have made such a mistake that it may have doomed my future.  Why did you blind the cyclops, you unruly idiot?  Could you not sail back to your kingdom without running into the big oaf?  Oh, well either way I am doomed.  Poetry time:  "The night is black." Orpheus said in misery. Later he met the king of the dead.  "Sir give me my love and when I die you shall have my head"  "You must never look back" Hades replied as he released Eurydice.

Connor: Doom Chapter 8

All the others have been ignoring me.  Orpheus is a real jerk as are most of them.  They all said I will never be famous.  Orpheus and Eurydice are constantly making out and when they don't telling me that I will never find love down here.  Everyone else travels around and stares at the populars or popular souls.  Another god came to the underworld and to my disgust it was the one who liked the Trojans most.  Apollo had come from the heavens and scratched Cerberus behind the ear all the while saying "So, you hear about what the Greek army did to my priest.  Achilles was involved as well, can you believe that jerk."  Of course I stuck my nose where it didn't belong, in someone's conversation.  To Apollo I said "Who you calling a jerk, you're just as bad as me.  Think before you speak, god of prophets.  Also you probably shouldn't talk about someone while their standing right next to you."  Apollo was upset and, luckily for me, ran away to talk with the Populars.  One day I will show these souls that I am greater than them.  For now I am doomed, but on the bright side I have written a poem about life in the underworld.  The sky is black, everyone's old, the gods have forsaken us because all our hearts are cold.

Connor: Doom Chapter 7

Everyone is talking about winter at the moment.  Hades tells me that he will be heading to Olympus to get his wife and then come right back.  He said that he needed someone to keep everything from going insane.  So like a fool I decided that I should be in charge of the watch.  All the while I was excited about Hades leaving the underworld.  Later I went to talk with Ajax about what we'll do if Hades doesn't keep the promise to let me live again.  So after Hades got back a goddess appeared with him actually it was two goddesses Persephone and Aphrodite who came.  Aphrodite was more of an invited guest, although she seemed more like Persephone dragged her along to have someone to talk to other than Hades.  Aphrodite wandered around the underworld and even scratched my co-worker behind the ear.  Cerberus was happy for a creature the gods fear and despise.  I looked at her beautiful, blue eyes and lovely blond hair.  No wonder Aphrodite was loved by everyone, I mean she is the goddess of beauty.  Aphrodite talked to me about the Trojan War, which to be honest I didn't remember at all.  Aphrodite told me that I was Ares' favorite Greek war hero and that Ares respected me for killing the most powerful Trojan in Troy.  I guess some gods really like me and may even write a myth about me.  Well at least now I know that I am not completely doomed.

Connor: Doom Chapter 6

Hades is annoying.  Recently that unholy donkey has insulted my dignity saying "Achilles you don't deserve fame.  How about you ask a friend if you are worthy of being reborn and yet this I highly doubt Ha ha ha."  That evil god why the Hades do I put up with him.  I swear I have heard news from people who have made deals with this man.  They all say the price is to die for, but it's all to good to be true.  Later today Hades invited me and only me to a feast.  Now this was strange and quite unlike him.  Hades had told me what his lucky number was and get this it was 666 which is the amount of Drachmas you have to pay for anything good here.  Everyone has a dark side even a few of my friends.  I keep order among my friends and have earned enough trust from this unholy master to be appointed the underworld's new sheriff.  I have to uphold the law or chaos as it would be considered.  I also get free peeks at the future of this realm and used it today.  In a few centuries or so a man will write a poem or short story about a raven one of the most vile birds in the over world.  So Hades told me if I keep up the good work I will be reborn in a future century he said "Probably eighteenth or nineteenth century America."  I don't know what that means, but I look forward to being alive again.  I had to arrest Ajax for not getting into a bar fight.  I caught Hector trying to relive or come back to life without the master's orders.  I am told that soon I will get to keep watch over the living who travel hear.  Cerberus is now my partner and with him I make sure that the dead are dead.  So I am not entirely doomed, but doomed nonetheless.

Connor: Doom : Chapter 5

I woke up still in the prison with that satyr. This was starting to drive me insane, I despise Hades. Finally the guards let me out and I was as free as a dead man can be. I saw a couple of idiots stealing the food from Hades' feast, I would have stopped them, but I had a bit of a grudge with his highness. I hate it down here. Ajax keeps talking about how he wants to know what's happening and how our partners are doing. Personally I prefer being dead. No one to boss you around. Hades keeps talking about his plans for the future of mankind. He says one day groups of bards will write songs about his domain. Everyone here finds the idea crazy, even his wife. I mean who would think that people would honor this realm, much less its lord. So I walked around and talked to some friends, and I use the term lightly, about how long it would take to earn Hades forgiveness. Despite no one down here understanding the flow of time any more they said it would take forever. They all told me that this is the most likely answer because he doesn't forgive. We all assumed he would not forgive anyone because his brothers had royally screwed him over. I figured that if I wanted anyway out of this place I would have to make a deal with Hades. I decided that meant I was doomed to wander the underworld for the rest of my afterlife.

Connor: Doom Chapter 4

With Hades as an enemy I knew things were bad.  Luckily for me I found a whole group of friends in the underworld.  I heard some cool stories and met famous people.  Theseus, whom had died twenty years before me, was telling everyone how he had slain the minotaur, a dangerous half man half bull.  Perseus told of his killing Medusa and about how he killed his grandfather without meaning to.  I told of my adventures in Troy and everyone around me was dumbfounded.  Orpheus told of how after his wife died he came here to get her back.  All I can say is everyone had a sad tale to tell, most involving wars, lovers, heroic deeds and the gods.  I will say I met a few hot girls down here. Pandora, whom opened a box releasing many terrible things into our world. Persephone, queen of this realm, wife of Hades, whom was kidnapped from Olympus and Earth by her so called husband.  Everyone seemed to hate Hades, which I understood perfectly.  I wished I had survived the war, but Paris was a jerk.  Hector still hunts me and I still evade him so we're pretty much even.  Being in this realm is a living hell and I mean it.  Suddenly I noticed the worst possible thing ever, an angry mob lead by the Rich One himself.  Oh Zeus, why did I come hear to be judged, why?  I was soon locked up in a terrible cell sitting next to a noisy and quite smelly satyr.  The satyr said his name was Pan and said that we should take care of nature.  A lot of good that would do me. I was trapped in the realm of the dead over twenty million feet underground in a cell with a smelly satyr.

Connor: Doom Chapter 3

I stood there looking ahead to see what lie within my path.  I saw only one thing in my way, a gate with a gigantic dog blocking it.  As I stood looking at the great beast the man from the raft said "Cerberus, don't attack anyone at all and the master will give you steak."  Cerberus's eyes lit up. I'm pretty sure he was thinking "Steak. I love steak. It is better with blood"  Oh man, Cerberus was happy so many men and women were going to his master's domain.  I walked up to Cerberus and the dog licked my face as though it had seen me before.  I walked up to him and scratched him behind the ears with my sword, which surprisingly didn't harm it.  I walked through the gate saying farewell to my new canine friend, or fiend, which ever you think suits the lovable creature.  Suddenly I found myself looking around this land. So this was the realm of Hades.  I thought of eating one of the fruits sacred to Hades, but found quickly that my hand phased through it.  I walked up to a palace of dark limestone and found two big golden thrones and in one was Hades himself.  I looked at him. He was gray with flaming hair and he looked thrilled to see another dead man in his humble home, as he called it.  I told him that I was a Greek by the name of Achilles.  The lord of the dead glared at me, looking like he wanted to torture me.  He asked me if I thought what I had done in life was wrong.  I asked "Why sir, what in your realm are you talking about?"  As it would turn out I knew exactly what he was speaking of.  In life I had driven my chariot in a circle dragging Hector's maimed body behind me.  "For this" said his lordship "I torture you to the same fate as his body, Hector ready my chariot and horses."   Before he could get the vehicle ready and tie me to it I ran to the new friend I had just met.  I jumped on Cerberus's back and he defended me from his master.  Finally Hades decided that if I got off his dog's back he wouldn't torture me.  I got down and told Cerberus to stop fighting his master.  Soon I noticed that I had just gained a powerful new enemy, one that made all my other rivals look like weaklings.  I knew I was severely doomed and that Hades would stop at nothing to kill me.

Connor: Doom Chapter 2

Hector came toward me thrusting his sword in the air menacingly.  "You kill me but now me kill you.", Hector said, his mouth forming a hideous evil grin.  As soon as he tried to strike another hit I jumped away.  Eventually the raft stopped moving. Suddenly, as I was about to step ashore I looked at the river "I remember this place I have been here before" I said thinking aloud. Then the short man replied "Yeah, Yeah I know it appeared in one of your dreams. I've heard it all before, man."  I wanted to call him an idiot, but I couldn't find the nerves to do so.  "Sir you don't understand. I mean I really was here before, like when I was young." The reply came, "Now that you mention it, I do remember a water nymph by the name of Thetis dipping her son in the river and I asked her son's name. Her reply was 'Achilles.'  That is all I remember, end of story."  I suddenly remembered my name, "I am Achilles. Greek war hero. I killed Hector."  Suddenly I felt the eyes of the dead looking at me, like you're the Achilles.  I grabbed the arrow from my ankle, it hurt and I nearly fainted.  Suddenly the short guy ran over and bandaged my ankle.  "My weak spot, did my mother dip me into the Styx by the ankle?" I asked as I stood up clutching the arrow in my hand. Suddenly, the short guy said "Yes Achilles, you are right."  I got up and walked toward the big castle in the distance. On my trip through the underworld I didn't see anything in my life as far away as that castle.  I had a feeling that I had gained a few friends by saying my name and yet I have also gained more enemies than just Hector. No doubt they were most likely Trojans rather than Greeks.  I didn't quite think I would ever make it out of the underworld known as Hades.  I was sure I was one hundred percent doomed and this place was getting creepier by the moment.

Connor: Doom- Chapter 1- Me

Doom

Chapter 1

Me 

I don't remember much, I didn't know who I was, where I was or what time it was.  All I remember is being stranded on a raft in the middle of a river wearing some kind of armor.  I looked at my foot and noticed an arrow stuck above my ankle yet not in my heel, I think it was stuck in my tendon.  Like I said I don't remember much of my life up to this point, but I do recall a battle or war even.  I don't remember my religion at all and yet I am sure it had multiple deities.  Here I was upstream without a paddle literally.  I looked at the water, but it didn't seem like the kind you'd want to swim in or drink as a matter of fact, it was purple.  My past unknown, my future looked bleak and some fellow suddenly joined me aboard the raft.  He was a short man and looked rather rude "You got business with the ruler of the underworld?" he asked in a rough voice.  "What are you talking about?" I asked
"You heard me, do you need to see master Hades?"  The name Hades rung a bell as if it belonged to one of the deities I worshiped in my past.  Suddenly the man didn't look to happy, probably because I didn't respond.  "You one of them war heroes?" he asked studying my foot.  "I guess so sir."  was my reply. "Trojan or Greek?" the strange man inquired.  The word Greek seemed familiar to me so did Trojan, then a memory rushed back to me.  I was standing on an island somewhere in the Aegean sea.  I decided that meant I was Greek, but what war could I have been part of what? What was this river? Was I dead?  The answer to question three was- Hades, yes.  I tried to get the short guy to tell me the name of the river. His reply was "The Styx, what's it to ya?"  I glanced around and noticed a face I remembered gazing back at me.  It was the face of a man who was big and tough. He walked towards me.  The short dude said "Unknown guy, this is Hector. Hector this is Unknown guy."  Hector must not have been very bright because he said "Me know him. He kill me." Way I saw, it I was doomed.
