This Wednesday was a great day, and one that only happens in November in Texas. We started the day in long pants and jackets and ended it in swimsuits in the river. Just perfect. In between the two we had a blast with our homeschool friends at Weavers Bottom. As you can see from reading the kids posts from today, we learned a lot about birds this week at our homeschool Adventure Club meeting. Go take a look at the pictures from the meeting!

Mommio: Wednesday At The Weaver's
We had another great morning at the Weaver's this week- it was beautiful outside, we finished up The Midwife's Apprentice in our book club and got to meet the new goats. It's so cool that our friends are becoming actual goat farmers- and more cool that we are getting to learn along with them...coming soon: goat breeding, baby goats, milking goats, goat cheese, goat soap making. So much to learn!

Avery: Sleep Over Plans
This Tuesday Lily and I are going to have another sleep over at her house. Here are a few of our plans:
sleep in the the school room
sew our Halloween costumes
sew clothes for our American girl dolls
and play Marco Polo
We have a lot more plans than that, but I don't feel like listing them all. We have to have it in the school room because we are going to be loud and we are going to laughing a lot. We are going to make Halloween costumes because it is almost Halloween. I am going to be an Elf and Lily is going to be an eyeball witch. I can't wait!

Avery: My sleep over with Lily
The sleep over was awesome! We played store twice. In the game Lily was the cashier and I was the shopper. We switched places so that we could have more fun. In the morning we had to do school. But that was okay with us.

Avery: What I Did Yesterday
Yesterday we went over to the Weaver's house so that we could do our book club and some morning chores and visit. The first thing that we did when we got there is we ate our breakfast. We got to eat cereal. Right after breakfast we gave the food scraps to their chickens. The chickens were crazy when the food dropped into their pen. Later we got to put hay in the goat's pen. Their names are Skyla and Cat. They are really cool. When we were watching the goats we played on the trampoline for a little while. Soon we went back to their house so that we could do our book club. We were talking about a book called The Midwife's Apprentice. We also drew pictures from the book. Later we went outside and talked and played for a long time. Later we went home for the afternoon. I love going to the Weaver's house!

Marney: What I Did Today

I did art with Lily and Elder and what we did for art is we made bas-relief clay pictures. How we do it is we can make it out of clay, which is easy to make. First we flatten out the clay, but not too flat. And then we draw it with a pencil, spoon or knife. And then we use the knife or your fingers to scrape out the clay around the picture. Then you let it dry. Mine is of a lion and fire.
I went to yoga with Lily and Elder and the teacher's called Lindsay. And she teached us warrior two and warrior one. And then we did the tree pose and we did the cat/cow. The cat/cow is where first you do the cow and the cow is where you get on your hands and knees and you bend your head up and your back down. The cat is where you bend your stomach out and your head down. And we also did downward dog. Downward dog is where you put your back all the way up. The tree pose is where you stand up, your head has to be straight and your hands have to be together or you can be a wavy tree where you just wave around. And your legs can be up to your knee or your toes can be touching the ground with your knee at your heel.

Mommio: What We Did Today
Today was an exciting day! It was our first time having morning school over at the Weaver's in their new school building. They have been working hard to get the building up and running so that we can now use the space for our classes and for Adventure Club. It's great! We also had our first breakfast book club meeting- about The Midwife's Apprentice. It went really well- we discussed the first two chapters and then had the kids retell the chapters and draw pictures to go with them to make a book later. We got to help feed some farm animals this morning, which was a big thrill for everyone. We learned more about the chickens and the goats. We also learned all about ornamental garlic and then potted 35 plants of garlic that Tony will use later for his business and give the profits to the the school there. It was hot, and it was work..so after ten minutes or so most of the kids weren't that interested but we worked through it and got it all done. We are going to be taking time to do things like that around their property each week, there is so much to learn and we are so lucky that Robin and Tony have opened up their property to us as a living classroom.
And, if that wasn't enough- we also celebrated Elder's 6th birthday today with cupcakes and a pinata. What a morning- check out the slideshow!

Avery: What I Did Today
This morning Marney, Max, Jack, and I went jogging. Gabe goes jogging with us every morning, but today he was too tired to go with us this time. When we went jogging Lucy ( Nana's puppy) got to go too. Most of the time she sat in the small basket that is attached to the stroller. Marney, Nana, and I talked about the big sleepover that we are going to have with Lily Weaver. We are talking to Nana about it because we are having it at her house. We all decided that we want to do lots of cooking. So that means that Nana, Marney, and I have to go to the store a few days before the sleepover so that we will have all of the stuff that we need. I am very excited!

Avery: What I Learned Today
Today in recorder class I learned how to play in a group, like we always do. Also we got to play Hot Cross Buns number two, Mary Had a Little Lamb, and Sailing on the recorder. Mommio took a video of us doing recorder class. So I decided to post it up on the blog.

Gabe: What I Did Yesterday
We swam at Robin's house yesterday. We are starting to propagate our Shitake mushrooms. What Tony did yesterday was he boiled mulch and wood chips to kill all the plants and other fungi growing in there. Then he is going to spread it out on a table and then put pieces of our Shitake mushroom patch in there and he is going to put it in a bag and he's going to give one bag to us. Then we are going to try growing it in our house.

Our recorder practice is going good. It is so good that I practice it all the time. Other people are practicing. Robin is teaching us.
