Connor: Blog Of The Day

Daddio, spiders are good because they kill insects.  I guess I should stop letting spiders out of my bedroom then.  What I am trying to say is they maybe deadly, but they keep flies and other insects away.  By the way the scientific name for spiders comes from an old Greek myth.  You see the myth says that long ago a woman, named Arachnae, who could weave better than any other human, had boasted that she could weave better than even the gods.  Little did the woman know Athena was listening and soon Athena,, disguised as an old woman won the contest.  After the contest Arachnae was transformed into an arachnid.  Another reason not to fear spiders is that most of them can't harm humans.  Most spiders weave lovely webs and those webs are kind of cool.  The trapdoor spider hides from its prey and then attacks, but it will only eat insects and other arthropods unless it is big enough then it will eat small snakes, birds and small mammals.  So in conclusion, your fear of spiders is almost irrational except for your fear of deadly spiders, but as long as you don't touch a dangerous spider you have nothing to worry about.
