Daddio: 4/14/10 Blog of the Day
For today's blog of the day, I want you to rewrite The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe. Write it as a story instead of a poem and make sure you change it up really crazy to put your own twist on it. So maybe in your story, the Raven is the name of the narrator's dog, or maybe it's a sci-fi story set in the far future.

Avery: Blog Of The Day
Dear Grandma and Grandpa,
It's me, Avery. It was so much fun having you guys here to visit us. I thought it was really funny when Gabe and I went outside to look at the plants and you got into the driveway right when we got to the pile of wood chips. I was so happy when you got here!!!!!!!!!!!! My favorite thing that we did was going to Sea World. Oh...by the way, thank you so much for buying those tickets for Sea World. Good thing they last all year, now I can go there a lot in the summer with the family. I could also go there with my friends sometimes, or the next time you come we can go there! Also I thought that it was amazing how you taught us how to fly kites! I can't wait to go to a park again and fly the kites! I can't wait to see you in August.
Love,
Avery

Mommio: Adventures In Letterboxing, Part 2
On Easter afternoon, after playing at Central Park in Bee Cave, we headed over to White Rock Cemetery (also in Bee Cave) to find our next letterbox. This letterbox was particularly cool because it was a "hitchhiker hotel". It is a box that contains extra hitchhikers and you can exchange any hitchhikers you might have with the ones in the box. We happened to have one that we found in North Carolina (the Battle of The Bands: Judas Priest one that we found at the ship museum) so we go to exchange it for a new one there. The cemetery was beautiful...covered with wildflowers everywhere. The kids (and grown ups) were so interested in the headstones that it was hard to get everyone to take a look at what we found!
Here we are looking for it, it's somewhere in that bush over there.
And, after lots of looking in the bush, we found it!
Here is the Bee Cave Hitchhiker Hotel stamp.
And here is the hitchhiker we chose from the box, and it's stamp: Heart Of Sierra.
And then we all enjoyed the place for a while.
Mommio: Surgery Recovery Room...and home
Connor's leg surgery went well this morning and we are now waiting in a recovery room to go home. He is feeling pretty good- MUCH better than after his regular leg surgeries. He says he feels "like crap", but he sure looks good!
Today Dr. Shapiro put two metal plates with screws into the growth plate at the bottom of his right femur. This will slow down the growth in this leg, which is quite a bit longer than the left. In the left leg he put one metal plate in the side so that the other side of the femur will grow more and help to straighten out that leg. Hopefully.
Well! What a quick trip-- in the middle of posting this Connor was released from the hospital and we are already home now at 3:00. He is doing great! Cranky, but he was able to walk by himself into the house so I expect by tomorrow he will be moving around pretty much like normal.

Avery: Art Ranch
A few days ago we went to the awesome art ranch with Grandma and Grandpa!!! It was amazing. We saw all sorts of new art. My favorite one was the blue bonnet sculpture.
In that picture Kiki is standing next to one of the newest sculptures. We call them " The Paint Bushes"!
I think this was one of the new ones. Also in this picture you can tell that Gabe and I are sketching pictures. We did that a lot of the time we were there.
Still sketching and sketching.
Look, my favorite sculpture. I love this one a lot!!!!!!! Do you love it???!!!
This is one of my favorite drawings of the stuff we saw there.
This is a picture of the goddess of the hunt, Diana. It was the hardest one to do.
This is a picture of an eagle sitting on a podium.
For some reason I found this sculpture interesting.
I love this one a lot! One time we got to crawl up them.
I like this one because it looks like a tiny flame of fire.
I think I didn't do to good at drawing this one. Well... I did something.
Their dancing!!!
When I saw this one I wanted to sit on it, but I know I'm not allowed to.
I could not remember the name of this one!!! I really wish I could.
This one was the second hardest to do.
Kiki: My First Roller Coaster
At Sea World I rode on my first roller coaster. It was called the Shamu Express. I wasn't scared. It was fun riding it. This is me before the ride started.
Here I am riding the roller coaster with Mommio.
Here is my family watching me on the roller coaster.
