Mommio: Edgar Allan Poe Style Mystery

Last week the kids and I read The Purloined Letter by Edgar Allan Poe.  We learned that Poe was the first author to create this genre of mystery story.  Several of his mysteries included the characters of Dupin (the detective), his friend and the Prefect of police.  The kids have used these characters and this style of writing to create their own modern day mystery story.  Here is the collaborative story they came up with:
