Marney: Sea World

Last night we went to Sea World to watch shows. They were not normal shows, they were Christmas shows.  because Christmas was last week. We went with Grandma and Grandpa.  The shows we watched were A Dolphin's Christmas and Shamu's Christmas.  Then for five minutes we watched people sing.  We looked all around Sea World and saw tons of cool things. There were tons of fake snowmen dressed up. Then we headed home so that we did not all fall asleep. I love Sea World! They decorated for Christmas and we also went to see the penguins.

Connor: New Puppy

Merry Christmas everyone.  Santa brought Max and Jack two dog themed gifts and he also brought a new dog.  She is part border collie and part lab.  Her name is Ferris and she is the cutest dang dog in the house.  She is playful, while chewing less than the previous new puppy.  Nana said that Ferris doesn't bark at all!  We all love Ferris and can't wait to see her as a full grown dog.

Mason's B-Day Night Out

I'm posting this from the La Quinta because tonight is Mason's birthday night out!  He chose to have me go with him.  We brought the Playstation 3, a bunch of movies and a bunch of junk food.  We left the Limon's Christmas party and came straight here.

We immediately set up the PS3, then realized we forgot to bring a DVD player!  But never fear!  The PS3 IS a DVD player!

After we got everything set up, we put on our swimsuits and went swimming in the indoor pool and soaked in the hot tub.  Then we came back up and played a little Lost Worlds.  Now Mason is playing the Sims on the PS3.  Later we're going to watch movies and order pizza.

Santa Visits the Limons

We went to the Limon's Christmas party this year and it was excellent!  It was great seeing Samantha, Trey and Nicholas again.

As you can see, Trey is great at making balloon animals and hats.  The kids loved them.  Thanks, Trey!

We ate some awesome hot dogs and skewered meat that Pete grilled (Thanks, Pete!) and then guess who came to visit?  Santa!

Santa answered all the kids questions.  Here's Max asking Santa what kind of treats he likes for people to leave out for him on Christmas Eve.  Santa said, "Prime rib."  Good choice, Santa!

Trey didn't seem so sure of Santa's answer:

Santa let kids sit on his lap and tell them what they wanted for Christmas.  Jack was a little scared at first, but reluctantly agreed.  He looks like he's in pain:

Max gave Santa a picture he printed off the computer of when Santa visited the kids at the Limon's Christmas party five years ago.  Max drew himself into the picture.  Santa thought it was great!

Here's all the kids posing with Santa:

We had such a fun time.  Thanks so much to Deanna and Pete for putting on an awesome Christmas party.  We already can't wait to go again next year!

Lakeside Academy (Dec. 12th): Christmas

Yesterday was the last official day of Lakeside Academy and we celebrated our fun together with a Christmas theme.  We started the day by making cinnamon applesauce ornaments (recipe).  We rolled out the dough and then used cookie cutters to cut out hearts and stars.  Then we popped the trays of ornaments in the oven to bake for the day to dry them out.  The house smelled so good all day!

For circle time we sang our welcome song, had show-and-tell and then read some of my favorite
Christmas books.  We also sang a little song to go along with The Mitten book and had lots of fun with the big sneeze at the end.

After lunch we went for one final walk to visit Birthday the horse.  She was really far away, by the barn, when we got there but we clapped and called (and waited, and waited) until she finally noticed us and came running over.  Then we were all able to take turns feeding her apple slices.  She was very happy to see us!

When we got back the we played a few rounds of Christmas BINGO (with M&M's of course).

Then the kids played in the playroom for a bit while we got the cooking project ready.  They told us they were going on a trip to New Hampshire in their car.  With lots of baby dolls and telephones.

Cooking time!  Today we let the kids have every type of candy imaginable (I think Nana bought out the HEB candy aisle) and we made graham cracker gingerbread houses.  The kids had so much fun with this and they were all very creative.  I think they snuck in a few bites of candy here and there too!

After cooking we had a friendly snowman building contest.  The kids were split into two teams and each team was given the pieces to make a snowman on the door.  They did a great job!

To finish off our day of fun we had a little music and movement time.  First some yoga stretching, pretending we were snowmen and melting to the ground.  Then we turned on the Christmas music and did some sock ice skating until it was time to go home.

It was a fun day and the kids were all wonderful.  Thanks to all the families who have entrusted their kid to us for Lakeside Academy.  We sure will miss these Mondays!
