Connor: History's Diaries
May 10, 1773
Dear Diary,
Today the tax on tea was raised. Here in Boston not many of us are willing to stand for it. I hath a plan to rid us of the unfairly high tax. Tar and feather will not do as a punishment. I will convince my fellow Bostonians to assist me in getting rid of the tea tax. How will I rid us of the tea tax?! I shalt throw the overpriced tea into the harbor where it will no longer be our problem.
December 16, 1773
Dear Diary,
I have not written to you in a while. Tonight we destroyed the tea. It was quite easy, but now because of me the ships probably won't be leaving. As a matter of fact, King George III is probably going to send more ships and soldiers to keep us in check. If that's how it is going to play out I'm not going down without a fight. Signed
Samuel Adams
April 18, 1775
Dear Diary,
As of the time of writing Paul Revere woke me up a while ago. I am going to head off soon to meet with General Washington. I must hurry if I don't. The colonies may be in trouble. If I don't write again it is because I need to fight instead of write. The pen may be stronger than the sword, but it is not stronger than a musket.
July 4, 1776
Dear Diary,
After a year long war we are free. We will no longer have a king or follow the rules of a tyrant. The Declaration of Independence says that we are free men, women, and children. It says all men are created equal. Also the slaves should be freed next century and the slave trade will stop then as well. We are a free country and as such it is cause for celebration!

Mason: Tae Kwon Do
Tae Kwon Do
By Mason
I go to Tae Kwon Do on Monday and Wednesday. My class is at Galloway Hammond Rec. Center in Burnet Texas. It takes 20 minutes to get there and it starts at 6:45 and ends at 7:45. My instructor's name is Master Porter and I think he is a really good teacher. There are usually 3 to 7 other kids at my class. One of them is named Savannah. She is a seven year old who has a black belt and she has won a lot of competitions. I am working on a new form for my next belt, it has 18 steps. I am working on a new kick, it is called the back kick. I am really having fun doing it.

Dear Mom,
I think you are doing great at teaching us. You are a good teacher because you help me do good at teaching me phonics. You are an awesome teacher!
I am doing great at my school. I am doing great at my phonics. I am doing good at my math. I am doing good on my math. I am doing great at writing.
I think we should do more math. I want to do more grammar. I would like to do more cards when we do unit. I would like to do less reading comprehension.
Love,
Kiki

Dear Mom,
I think you have been a great teacher. I think your art has been good. How you are teaching art is a good. I also think how you make us do our work is good. Also how you do some work with us later in the day is good. You are so good as being our mom and our teacher.
I think that I like to do school at home because it is more fun at home instead of going to school out of the house. I have been doing great at school. My math got hard, which is great because then I am learning. I have been good on school days. I love school.
I would like to do Spanish. I think things are in a good order. I think that they have been good school days so far. There is nothing else that I want to do. It has been a good school year.
Love,
Marney

Daddio: 8/3/11 Blog of the Day
For today's blog of the day, I want you to write a letter to Mom which discusses several things. First, I want you to write a paragraph which discusses how you think she's doing as a homeschool teacher. Second, I want you to write a paragraph which discusses how you think you're doing as a student and on your schoolwork. Third, I want you to write a paragraph which discusses things you think can be changed or improved in how you're doing homeschool.
When you write your letter, you must follow these rules: you cannot simply list things-- you need to write three separate paragraphs; each paragraph needs to be four or five sentences; and-- most importantly-- no jokes. I want you to take this seriously.

Gabe: Book Report
The book I was reading was Z.Rex. What it is about is a kid name Adam who gets sent into a virtual world mixed with the ruins of the normal world by an earth quake caused by his father's computer work. My favorite part was were he found a guy in a truck that was on fire. The guys name was Zed. His dad was my favorite person in the book because he was really really scared the whole time. I think Marney should read this book and Kiki when she is older.
Kiki: Pony's Party
Bird and Raccoon went to Pony's house and figured out it was Pony's birthday. They went to the park. Then they played on the swings. Then they went to Pony's house to have a party for Pony.
Avery: My Yoga
I am doing great at my yoga and I work very hard on it. I have three classes a week, two at Sana Vida and one at home with Lindsay. I do as much yoga as I can at home. I have been looking at getting a yoga certification right now. Lately Mom and I have been looking at the "kids teaching class" at Yoga Fit. The "kids teaching class" teaches you how to teach children yoga. I am excited because it is only one day and it's in Austin! We don't know if I can go yet. We e-mailed them about how old I have to be. When we get the information we need I'm going to write a letter to them (with help from my dad who writes letters to agents for his book) and ask for a scholarship. I am super excited about it and can't wait to find out everything!

The Candy
By Marney
One day there was this little girl who wanted a piece of candy, but she would never get one. She also wanted one from a shop, not from her mom. So one day her mom took her to a shop and they bought everything there but not candy. They did not have candy but they had everything else. Then they went to a shop that had candy and she got the candy. After they got the candy she was super excited that she got candy. Then she read a little kid book called The Little Duck That Said Moo.The End

Spend Time With The Younger Kids
I have not been spending much time with the kids lately. Rather I have been in solitude recovering from surgery last week. As for all of July I don't have an excuse. I will be around the younger kids much more often starting this week.
Learn To Drive
This goal is difficult to complete. I have unofficially learned the basics from Mommio, but I need to read a book about driving so I can pass the written test and actually learn to drive the car. However, every time we drive by the DMV, or rather the Marble Falls courthouse, it is closed. If we can't get the pamphlet there they have it online. That is all I have to say about this topic at the time of writing. I will learn to drive sometime this month I'm sure, but if I don't I will learn eventually.

With my typing I am now using all three middle fingers but I have not been doing anything for it. My hand writing is much, much better now because I do spelling class were I write by hand. I have been controlling my temper much, much more lately. I am not even using my sheet, sometimes I just remember. I have still worn my shoes everyday so far besides the days I am sick.
Mommio: Blog Of The Day
Jack- Jack is definitely using the potty all by himself- way to go Jack!
Max- Max is wearing underwear at night most nights and have less accidents than he used to. He is writing his name and all the letters like a pro.

Mommio- I am doing okay with my goals. I have been doing a lot more yoga and getting really good at it. As far as the family being healthier- I started swimming across the lake with some of the kids so that has been great exercise for all of us and we have been eating more vegetables because of the CSA. I have also been making sure that there is plenty of fresh fruit to eat and the kids are eating it all the time. I want to be more consistent with all of it though and also find some healthy dinner recipes that everyone can enjoy.

My photography has gotten much better! To work on my photography Mom gives me projects to do. This week I have to take pictures of everything I eat. I am also reading a photography book and soon I'm going to take a photography class at Joans Academy with Drew. Drew is the film and photography teacher. I have finished a project the other day. I had to take pictures of red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple things. Those are all of the colors of the rainbow. So I cut out all the pictures and made a rainbow with them. Check out this picture of it!

I finished growing my hair out. I want to paint more so I am going to paint today. I have not been learning to sing but I am learning to play the piano.
Mason: Blog Of The Day
I have not finished my first goal. It was to read all the Lightening Thief books. I can't read them because we can't find the next book. I plan to read them when I find them. So my new goal is to read all of the Harry Potter books. I am half way in the first book and I am really loving it.

Being nice to people
I have not been that good but I will try not to yell at people or hurt people. But that is going to be easy because I will just get used to not doing that.
Reading harder books
I have read hard books and I need some more. I am in the middle of one and it is called Time Travels by Linda Buckley-Archer . It is about a boy who time travels but doesn't know he does. I have had fun reading it and it is cool.

Daddio: 8/1/11 Blog of the Day
It's August 1, which means it's time to update how you did on your new year's resolutions! As a reminder, here's what everyone's new year's resolutions were:
Jack- use the potty
Max- stop wearing pullups at night, write name, write the ABC's
Kiki- learn to sing, paint more, grow out hair
Marney- read harder books, be nicer to people
Gabe- type better, improve handwriting, control temper, do the full lotus yoga pose, wear shoes everyday
Avery- practice photography
Mason- read The Lightening Thief
Connor- spend time with the younger kids, learn to drive
Mommio- be healthier, help the family be healthier
Daddio- track food on Livestrong everyday until July 1st
So post up your progress on your resolutions for the last two months, and then post about what you're going to do in the month of August to work towards your goals.
I'm no longer commenting on my horribly failed goal. If progress improves, I'll make a note of it.
